BOSCH / DISHWASHER
E09— Heating Element Failure
01 — What it means
The flow-through heater (Bosch's tank-less heat element) has failed or is drawing the wrong current. Water does not reach wash temperature, dishes come out cool and poorly cleaned, and drying is significantly reduced.
02 — Most common causes
- A failed heating element (a 6-to-10-year wear part)
- A shorted heating element tripping the control board's protection circuit
- A failed control board unable to command the heater on
03 — Check it yourself (safe steps)
- 1Run a full wash cycle and check if the dishes emerge warm to the touch at the end.
- 2If the dishes are cool, heating is confirmed failed — do not continue running cycles, as a shorted element can trip your breaker or kitchen GFCI.
- 3Unplug the dishwasher for 10 minutes to reset the control board.
- 4If E09 returns on the next cycle, the element needs professional replacement.
